Sector 1 AP quest waypoints

Posted by on Dec 11, 2011 in Fallen Earth, Guides | 0 comments

This is a list of quest givers whose quest chains will result in 1 or 2 bonus AP. Some of those chains can be quite lengthy and involved. If you only complete the quests in your starter town, the “You are still dying” and the ATV chain, and the quests on this you will end up around level 18, depending on subscription level. You will have 19*30 base AP, around 90 AP from this list, plus a number of random AP.

This list has been floating around on many of the older websites. I am currently running a character through sector 1, trying to verify this list. Any other corrections and additions are welcome.

To use this list, open you characters .ini file at: {your install directory}SettingsUser(your-character-name}.ini. Highlight and copy this list and paste it at the end of the .ini file. Make sure you don’t have any other WAYPOINT entries in your .ini file. If you do, correct the number scheme accordingly. Once in game, you can open up your waypoints with Alt-P, highlight one of them and follow the yellow X.

The two letter codes in front of the quest givers names are short for the town where the quest starts.

Updates:
11/15/2011, added 2 quest givers in Oasis.
11/23/2011, added Jim Konrad in Old Kingman
12/01/2011, replaced David Ramsey with Lou-Ellen

Sector 3 Fast Travel Map

Posted by on Dec 11, 2011 in Fallen Earth, Guides | 0 comments

In order to use fast travel, a player character has to register his DNA with the receiving lifenet station first. This is done by leaving a sample at that locations computer. Fast Travel then is initiated by killing the clone in one station and by reviving him at the receiving station. This process does not include mounts and vehicles. Check with your local garage or stable manager to have your ride towed. As usual, towing is much cheaper if mounts and vehicles are parked at the closest gas station before you leave.

The Help Channel

Posted by on Dec 10, 2011 in Fallen Earth, Guides | 0 comments

The one thing that sticks out when you enter the Fallen Earth game as a newbie is the help channel. Your chat window starts rolling with questions and answers almost immediately. And as somebody who’s monitored the help channel for a long time, there is no question left unasked and only CAPS LOCK is ignored. I dare say that the presence of the help channel was one of the things that kept the game alive. It made the new player feel welcome, and it’s been said on many occasions what a friendly community this game has.

The drawback of the help channel is the fact that in order to keep it functional, it has to be policed hard. Off-topic chatter or guild recruiting is usually quickly criticized and suppressed. Roleplaying has to be limited to other channels and even the use of foreign language is limited to a sentence or two stating that somebody is looking for fellow players from his country. At first this rule seems discriminatory, but it is the only way for the GMs to monitor the channel for content. The rule has indeed lead to a couple of couple of harassing statements, but even that could be stopped quickly.

The Fallen Earth webpage has a post with frequently asked questions here, but I want to expand on it with the experience of the first 10 days since F2P. I have however some secret (and now not so secret) objections about a help channel FAQ. It’s based on the tendency of the human nature to be to lazy to research and to read and adventurous enough to go out on their own and see what happens.

And here we are, enabling human nature, helping the lost adventurer. Stay tuned for an FAQ in the Guides section

Fallen Earth AP Planner

Posted by on Dec 8, 2011 in Fallen Earth, Guides | 1 comment

You can find a great planner for Fallen Earth ability points at http://www.fallenearthplanner.info. It has been created by Fallen Earth Player Psychic. It allows you to experiment with the distribution of AP, assigning them to various skills and stats. It displays ability levels and thresholds at which you can train those abilities. It also features a good deal of game information, like predefined builds, maps, travel locations, mounts.
