Star Wars: The Old Republic has a great new user guide up on their main website at http://www.swtor.com/info/newplayerguide. It’s a pretty good introduction how to get started with the game. It is certainly directed toward the newcomer into MMORPGs, but the information presented is compact and gives the experienced player a quick rundown of the games features, races and classes.  It also has some short chapters on the game’s more innovative features like companions, interaction with NPCs, flashpoint missions, crew skills and space combat.

Early Access Has Started

And off we go ! The first batch of Early Access emails for Star Wars: The Old Republic has been sent. It is planned to send them in multiple batches throughout the day. With these emails, players will have access the same day.

Some early hiccups: one server unavailable, high load on http://www.swtor.com and problems posting to the official forums.

SWTOR asks all pre-order customers to start downloading the client now.  Emails requesting it have been sent to players with pre-orders on file as well as the promise to send out invitations soon:

Early Game Access* for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is only a few days away! Starting December 13, 2011, The Old Republic will begin emailing invitations to start your Early Game Access. Invitations will be sent throughout the Early Game Access period offering rolling access to the game in the order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code, so be sure to check your email inbox!
